Wilson, Conrad Weiser lose in first round of District 3 Class 3A Team Tournament

[ad_1]

Feb. 2—Wilson and Conrad Weiser each lost in the opening round of the District 3 Class 3A Team Tournament Tuesday and were eliminated.

The sixth-seeded and Berks champion Bulldogs fell 34-32 to 11th-seeded Cocalico at Central Dauphin.

The 13th-seeded Scouts lost 75-0 to fourth-seeded Gettysburg at Gettysburg.

Wilson (13-4) managed just three wins, two by forfeit, in the first 10 bouts. Cocalico’s Trenton Habecker all but clinched the match with his 38-second pin over Tyler Herbein at 106 to give the Eagles (10-5) a 34-16 lead and seventh individual match victory.

Had Wilson won each of the final three bouts by pin to tie it, Cocalico still would have held the tiebreaker of most individual matches won. At that point, the Eagles would have needed to have a team point deducted to lose the match.

The Bulldogs did earn 16 points in the final three matches. James Garcia had a 10-2 decision over Timothy Porter at 113, Miguel Herrera pinned Kameron Carcia in 3:54 at 120, and Caden Herb pinned Wyatt Fritz in 1:49 at 126.

Conrad Weiser fell to 15-5 with its loss to Gettysburg (18-0).
