New Delhi: Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday expressed regret over the security breach incident during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab on January 5. Participating in a COVID review meeting with PM Modi today, Channi took the opportunity to express regret over the incident and said, ‘jo hua uske liye mujhe khed hai’.
The Punjab CM made the remarks while attending the COVID meeting chaired by the prime minister and other chief ministers.
Earlier, Channi had said there was no security lapse during PM Modi’s visit to the state.
“There was no security lapse of any kind and there was no situation of any attack,” the Punjab chief minister had said after Union Home Minister took cognisance of Modi’s cavalcade getting stuck on a flyover and termed it as “major security lapse”.
On January 5, PM Modi’s convoy was stranded on a flyover due to a blockade by protesters in Ferozepur. The prime minsiter had to return from the pol-bound state without attending any event, including a rally.
