Lucknow: With Election Commission banning poll rallies ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday kickstarted its door-to-door campaign to reach out to the electorate.
UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh started the election campaign in the Ballu Adda area in Lucknow and pasted posters outside the homes. The posters read: ‘Poore hui aas, ghar ghar huaa vikaas’ (aspirations have been fulfilled, development has reached to houses).
As per Election Commission rules, only five members can take part in door-to-door election campaigns.
“As per the guidelines of the Election Commission, the BJP is reaching to the beneficiaries of various schemes of the Centre and state governments. We are giving our report card to the public, and taking suggestions from them as well. This is the first government, which is going door-to-door,” Singh told reporters.
The Uttar Pradesh BJP chief has said that the ruling party aims to reach out to people across UP and inform them about the developmental work done by the Centre and Yogi Adityanath governments for farmers, workers, women and youths.
“BJP workers and leaders will reach in groups of four to five persons every house falling under 1.74 lakh polling booths within all 403 assembly segments while adhering to the Covid protocol,” Singh said.
Announcing the poll dates for elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Manipur and Punjab, the Election Commission on January 8 banned public rallies, roadshows and corner meetings till January 15 in the five poll-bound states due to the COVID-19 surge.
Election Commission announced to conduct polls UP polls 2022 in seven phases. The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7. The Uttar Pradesh elections 2022 results will be announced on March 10.
